The first exhibition of Public Art presented by a major museum, this landmark show was designed by four of the most significant artists in the field: Siah Armajani (signage), Scott Burton (seating), Nancy Holt (lighting), Mary Miss (entryway), and Elyn Zimmerman (viewing platform). The exhibition included more than sixty artists nationwide who were working in this burgeoning new field at the intersection of contemporary art and public engagement.
