• Santa Monica Festival: A Celebration of Community Roots
  • Executive Producer
  • Client: City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division
  • Dates: 1991-2003

Begun in 1991 as a way to highlight Santa Monica’s ethnic groups and their contributions to the community, the performing arts festival grew into a hugely successful annual event in Clover Park. Annual attendance ranged from 10-15,000 people. Focused on the cultural diversity of this progressive community, the festival celebrated historically significant cultural groups within the city— creating the first positive bonds between the City and these communities.

Broadening the focus in later years, the festival became a vehicle for the community to learn about environmental and green issues. In 2012 the festival celebrated its 20th anniversary.
